Epanutin (phenytoin sodium) is an antiepileptic drug that stabilizes neuronal membranes and reduces seizure activity by decreasing sodium influx. It is effective in controlling tonic-clonic (grand mal) seizures, partial seizures (focal including temporal lobe), and seizures occurring during or after neurosurgery and/or severe head injury. Additionally, Epanutin is used as a second-line treatment for trigeminal neuralgia when carbamazepine is ineffective or not tolerated. .
