Sodium hyaluronate, a naturally occurring glycosaminoglycan, plays a crucial role in maintaining the viscoelastic properties of synovial fluid, thereby lubricating and cushioning joints. Arthrum H 2% is administered via intra-articular injection by a qualified healthcare professional. The typical regimen involves three injections, each one week apart. Before administration, ensure the area is properly disinfected, avoiding disinfectants containing quaternary ammonium salts like benzalkonium chloride. After removing the protective tip from the syringe, attach a suitable needle using the Luer-Lock system, ensuring it is securely fastened. Inject the solution slowly into the joint space. Following injection, some patients may experience mild pain or swelling; applying a cold pack for 5 to 10 minutes can help alleviate these symptoms.
