Clexane 60 mg/0.6 ml is a sterile, clear, colorless to pale yellow solution of enoxaparin sodium, a low molecular weight heparin with anticoagulant properties. It is supplied in pre-filled syringes for subcutaneous injection. Enoxaparin inhibits clot formation by enhancing the inhibition of Factor Xa and thrombin. Clexane is indicated for the prophylaxis of venous thromboembolic diseases in surgical and medical patients, treatment of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE), prevention of thrombus formation in extracorporeal circulation during hemodialysis, and treatment of acute coronary syndromes such as unstable angina and non-Q-wave myocardial infarction. . The dosage and administration depend on the specific condition being treated or prevented. For prophylaxis of venous thromboembolism in moderate-risk surgical patients, the recommended dose is 60 mg (0.6 ml) once daily by subcutaneous injection, usually initiated 2 hours before surgery. For other indications, dosing may vary; therefore, it is essential to follow the prescribing physician's instructions. Administer by deep subcutaneous injection, preferably with the patient lying down. Do not expel the air bubble from the syringe before injection to avoid loss of the drug. Rotate injection sites daily between the left and right anterolateral and posterolateral abdominal walls.
