Insulatard is an intermediate-acting insulin suspension containing isophane insulin (NPH) used for controlling blood sugar levels in patients with type 1 and type 2 diabetes mellitus. It provides a gradual and prolonged blood glucose-lowering effect lasting up to 24 hours. Insulatard is typically used as part of a basal-bolus insulin regimen or alone depending on the patient's needs. It helps manage both fasting and day-time blood sugar levels and reduces the risk of diabetes complications. It is injected subcutaneously once or twice daily as advised by a physician.
