NorLevo is an oral emergency contraceptive that contains 1.5 mg of levonorgestrel, a synthetic progestogen. It is used to prevent unwanted pregnancy when taken as soon as possible, preferably within 12 hours and no later than 72 hours (3 days) after unprotected intercourse or contraceptive failure. The tablet works primarily by preventing ovulation and may also prevent fertilization or implantation.
