1. Wrap the cuff around the upper arm and secure it with the Velcro closure. 2. Place the stethoscope diaphragm under the cuff over the brachial artery. 3. Ensure the deflation valve is closed, then inflate the cuff by squeezing the rubber bulb until the pressure is 20–30 mmHg above the expected level. 4. Slowly open the valve to release air at a rate of 2–3 mmHg per second. 5. When the first heartbeat sound is heard, note the reading (systolic pressure). 6. Continue releasing air until the heartbeat sounds disappear, then note the reading (diastolic pressure). 7. Fully deflate the cuff and store the device in the carrying case.
