Risek IV 40 mg (omeprazole sodium) is indicated for the short-term treatment (up to 5 days) of conditions such as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), peptic ulcers, NSAID-associated ulceration, duodenal ulcers, and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome in patients unable to take oral therapy. It is also used for the prophylaxis of acid aspiration during general anesthesia. . For intravenous injection: Reconstitute the vial with 10 mL of sterile water for injection to obtain a solution containing 4 mg/mL omeprazole. Administer the solution slowly over a period of at least 2.5 minutes at a maximum rate of 4 mL per minute. For intravenous infusion: Reconstitute the vial with 10 mL of sterile water for injection, then dilute the solution with 90 mL of 0.9% sodium chloride, 5% dextrose, or 5% mannitol to make a 100 mL solution containing 0.4 mg/mL omeprazole. Administer the infusion over 20–30 minutes.

Omeprazole sodium equivalent to 40 mg omeprazole.
