Xolair (omalizumab) is a recombinant humanized monoclonal antibody that selectively binds to immunoglobulin E (IgE), preventing its interaction with high-affinity IgE receptors on mast cells and basophils. This action inhibits the release of inflammatory mediators involved in allergic responses. Xolair is indicated for patients aged 6 years and older with moderate to severe persistent allergic asthma, and for patients aged 12 years and older with chronic spontaneous urticaria unresponsive to antihistamines. The medication is supplied as a lyophilized powder in a single-use vial containing 150 mg of omalizumab, to be reconstituted with 1.4 mL of sterile water for injection, resulting in a 1.2 mL solution for subcutaneous administration. .
