Xultophy is a fixed-ratio combination of insulin degludec (a long-acting insulin) and liraglutide (a GLP-1 receptor agonist) used for the treatment of adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. It helps control blood sugar levels by enhancing insulin secretion, reducing hepatic glucose production, slowing gastric emptying, and providing basal insulin coverage. Xultophy is injected subcutaneously once daily and can be used as an add-on to oral antidiabetics when adequate glycemic control is not achieved. In addition to improving blood sugar control, it may also contribute to modest weight reduction. Each package contains 5 pre-filled pens. .
